About this supplement
Milk Protein Concentrate 85 (MPC 85) is a high-protein dairy ingredient produced by ultrafiltration of skim milk, resulting in a protein content of approximately 85% on a dry basis. It contains both casein (~80%) and whey proteins (~20%) in their native micellar and globular forms, respectively, preserving their natural functional and nutritional properties. MPC 85 is valued for its excellent amino acid profile (rich in essential amino acids, particularly leucine), high biological value, and functional properties like solubility, emulsification, and water binding. It is commonly used in sports nutrition, clinical nutrition, and functional foods to support muscle protein synthesis, satiety, and overall protein fortification.

Physical properties
Typically a fine, off-white to cream-colored powder. Soluble in water, forming slightly opaque solutions. Exhibits good emulsifying, foaming, and water-binding properties. Mild dairy flavor and aroma.
How it’s made
Produced via membrane filtration (ultrafiltration and diafiltration) of pasteurized skim milk. This process removes lactose, minerals, and water while concentrating the native milk proteins. The retentate is then spray-dried to create a stable powder with ~85% protein content.
