Description
Vitamin B7, also known as biotin, is a water-soluble vitamin that plays a crucial role in various metabolic processes, including the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. It's often touted for its benefits to hair and nail health, though evidence is stronger for nail health improvements than for hair growth, particularly in individuals with a deficiency. Biotin is generally considered safe at recommended dosages, but high doses can potentially cause skin rashes, digestive upset, and importantly, can interfere with certain lab tests. Pregnant women require adequate biotin for fetal development. It is available naturally from eggs, yeast, and plants, and can also be synthesized.
